Pros & cons about this property:

Houses on the north side of this strip of Davenport is uniquely perched on a unique deep sloping and terraced lot. The house is in an obvious state of disrepair for a number of years, but the interior shows decent bones (looks like has been recently cleaned up and given a coat of white paint), it needs a thorough top to bottom renovation.

A thorough home inspection is a must due to its condition, age and the “reverse ravine” lot which slopes towards the house which may be prone to water/drainage issues.

The basement has a separate entrance and features its own bathroom and kitchen, but it is not a legal apartment. The attached built-in garage in the front of the house is a nice feature but a pain to use regularly as you will need to back out on to a busy street.   

The deep backyard really does feel like a tranquil ravine and is terraced to make it more useful, but just like the house it needs a lot of work.

My final thoughts:

This home has been vacant and poorly maintained for a long time and the exterior shows it. While the interior shows no serious faults other than being old and a blank slate for a through renovation. Needs a lot of work but good for those who desire a home designed to their own exacting taste, with a tranquil ravine-like backyard and in a very desirable area. Being on an extremely busy street and potential surprises of a neglected old house may detract potential buyers. This home is not for the faint of heart.
