Sale Notes: My clients came across my Kensington Market office while sightseeing in Toronto from their home city of Paris. They planned on relocating here for work which we had been Skyping back and forth, talking about the real estate market here as they were shocked about the prices and competition in our rental market. The couple wanted a traditional apartment on a lower floor (they were not used to high-rises) and wasn’t impressed with the modern cookie-cutter condos that’s commonly seen in the rental market. I managed to find a cute condo in the Village by the Grange that was a 5-minute walk to their future work, close to some of the favorite spots in the city, with good amenities, and within their strict budget.
The biggest challenge was that the owner was not very motivated to lease — the property has been on the market for over two months and he had turned down four previous offers, and he was using the condo as a crash pad when he’s in town. After some back-and-forth negotiations with the owner and the extra effort to demonstrate my clients’ financial ability as they were foreigners and that they would be outstanding tenants, we finally got the owner to accept our offer.
My clients could not be any happier with getting this condo and they have been extremely grateful for my help in getting them settled in Toronto to which we remain good friends till this day. Fast forward almost two years later and they are getting married and wanted me to be in their intimate wedding ceremony.
